William Hsu, Patrick Lundberg and Layla Rudneva-Mackay
Staging Space brings together Auckland-based artists William Hsu, Patrick Lundberg and Layla Rudneva-Mackay with a collection of works that investigate a broader definition of architectural engagement. Encouraging thoughts about the tractable and traceable elements within both interior and exterior spaces and how we as inhibitors of the space can interact with these, Hsu, Lundberg and Rudneva-Mackay utilise existing physical structures, both natural and artificial, within our direct and day-to-day surroundings.

The Illustrated History of Painting: 13 Aug 2010 14 Nov 2010
Roger Boyce
In most Illustrated Histories', the story of art plays out as a succession of styles and art movements. But in this new series, Christchurch painter Roger Boyce reimagines the history of his chosen medium as a succession of outrageous stunts, tragicomic mishaps and wild endeavours. His Illustrated History takes satiric aim at everything from art criticism and abstract painting to the myth of the artist as hero.
An American Index of the Hidden and Unfamiliar: 18 Jun 2010 05 Sep 2010
Taryn Simon
Inspired by rumours of weapons of mass destruction and secret sites in Iraq, Taryn Simon decided to address secret sites in her own country. Shot over four years, mostly with a large-format view camera, the images are sometimes ethereal, sometimes foreboding, sometimes cinematic. Taryn Simon uses things usually hidden from view to create a vivid portrayal of the contemporary USA.
Brought to Light - A New View of the Collection: 01 Feb 2010 31 Oct 2010
The exhibition's title is inspired by the title of Fiona Pardington's suite of seven photographs, Mauria mai, tono ano, some of the first works you'll see in the space. 'Mauria mai, tono ano' translates from Māori as 'to bring to light, to claim again'. Each of the seven photographs depicts a Ngāi Tahu heitiki (greenstone pendant) from the Auckland Museum, presented at a scale closer to that of a painted portrait than a traditional archival photograph. The greenstone appears not to reflect light but to emit it; the forms shift and ripple like live things.
The first comprehensive survey exhibition of this acclaimed New Zealand sculptor. Focusing on the period between 1980 and 2010, this spectacular exhibition explores the artist's rich and diverse practice, which spans performance, sculpture, installation, drawing, photography and technology.
