VIDEO PREMIERE: French Concession – “To Be Free”
Written by Admin on 3 October 2015
Here’s the RDU premiere for French Concession’s new video ‘To Be Free’.
‘To Be Free’ was written last year for the ‘Euphoros’ EP. Ella Chau Yin Chi AKA French Concession says “The song raises the question of the freedom of ones state of mind.”
Talking about the video, Chi says that “After the ‘Euphoros EP’ was released, I wanted to make a video for one of the songs. I had many ideas floating around but the idea of a cyborg like person waking up into an alien scene was recurring in my mind.
Then one day, I saw the beautiful and colourful images of a blow-up structure (Arboria) in the Christchurch’s Arts Festival catalog, and I thought that it was the perfect setting for this video. I am very thankful to all the people who came and participated in the shoot. ”
On the day of the shoot, they got kicked out of the venue half way through shooting because they were there for too long. Luckily the floor manager was keen to let them continue the shoot because he saw that it was a good promotion for Architects of Air (the company that created the work).
