Calling all budding Young Reporters!

Get involved in theĀ Young Reporters for the Environment Programme. Ā
This nationalĀ eco-journalism competitionĀ is open for all 11-18 years old’s living in New Zealand. Ā It is an internationally adopted programme that gives New Zealand youthĀ the opportunity to produce creative and engaging environmental journalism articles, photos and films.
Participants are split in to two categories based on their age:
- 11-14
- 15-18
There are 3 x categories with a prize for each age group up for grabs in each: Ā
- Photography
- Film
- Writing
Each participantĀ needs to select an environmental topic andĀ investigate it.Ā They thenĀ need to reportĀ on the environmental issues surrounding their topic, and propose solutions, by using either video, photography or writing.
A panel of reputableĀ journalists and environmental experts will judge the entries and select the winners.Ā There are lots of great prizesĀ in each category including the latest and coolest electronics, plus an internship for a day in The New Zealand Herald newsroom which will include a tour, question and answer session with senior journalists and the opportunity to shadow different parts of the newsroom operation.Ā How cool is that?!
