Pacific Heights exclusive premiere ‘Realms’ featuring Deanne Krieg

Pacific Heights is the solo project of Wellington-based songwriter and producer Devin Abrams. Best known for the fifteen years he spent as one of the founding members of New Zealand group Shapeshifter, of late Devin’s focus has returned to his solo work, heralding the arrival of a new Pacific Heights album titled THE STILLNESS. 

“The opening track to the album was inversely written and was in fact the last produced”, says Devin. “The opening sound is a heavily manipulated sample of one of Deanne Krieg’s outtakes from another song.  With this track being the last on the album, I had a good snap shot of what the rest of the album was sounding like, and knew there was a gap that I wanted to fill.  I decided to incorporate elements of the style of music I first started producing – Jungle and breakbeats. The balance of Deanne’s beautifully fragile vocals alongside the deep and dark haunting beat still gives me goosebumps. I felt this was a nice nod to fans of my early music.”

Pacific Heights is also playing at On The Spectrum alongside Shocking Pinks, Doprah and Kamandi in July as part of ‘Alternative Radio: RDU98.5FM since 1985’ at Canterbury Museum.
