This week’s Te Ahi Top 10 winner was Harvo with his track ‘Faceless’

Harvo is an 18 year old producer from Christchurch. Interested in music production from a young age, he started producing music on an old PC in 2014, then buying Ableton in 2016 and never looking back.

His music takes influences from a variety of sources, shifting between house, techno and breaks, usually with emotional vibes and dark moods. Harvo has also been known to dabble in some EDM and hip hop/rnb as well. He started self-releasing his music in 2020 and has steadily been releasing music in a variety of electronic genres since then.

“‘Faceless’ was originally just an experiment with some interesting synth sounds, but I ended up really liking it and finishing the track. I’m stoked to have it released on such a great VA album as well.”

Another thing that Harvo has been doing for a while is Youtube. In August 2020 he had the stupid idea to make a beat out of monkey noises. After uploading the song to youtube, it quickly gained hundreds of thousands of views, and kick-started his youtube channel. The video is currently sitting at 1.2 million views, and the song is at 400k on spotify.

Future projects and releases include a 3-part series of singles (starting on March 1st!!), possibly an album, some more collabs and many more youtube videos.
